A Little Farther North

After our attempt to see the Poro Point Cliff, we headed off to our booked accommodation. As soon as we have put down our bags, the two of us decided to bail on from the group and explore La Union on our own. Little did I know that my tag-along for the trip was already searching for points of interest around the area.

He offered to drive, and off we went to the town of Luna to see the Baluarte Watch Tower.

The Baluarte Watch Tower was built by the Spaniards and still stands after centuries. It’s main purpose was, of course, to stay alert of potential invaders coming from the West Philippine Sea. How ironic, isn’t it?

After having taken some photos, we headed to our next destination: a quick stop at the Almeida man-made forest in the town of Balaoan.

After our quick road trip to northern La Union, we just decided to bum by the beach of San Juan and watch the sunset.

After watching the sunset, Ran and I joined the group again. We then went to take our dinner, but when we were about to settle down already, we realized that we are a bit cramped in the hotel room that was reserved. I sought refuge to Airbnb and found a nice and cozy transient house, so Ran and I bolted out from the gang again for the night.

That ended our first day in La Union. Akala ko mapapahinga na ‘ko, pero may ibang balak pala ang kasama ko para sa kinabukasan.
