From the town of Loboc, I asked Ran to drive to our next destination: Hinagdanan Cave. Going to Hinagdanan required us to return to the island of Panglao, and since it was already late in the afternoon, we really had to be fast as the cave closes at 04:00 PM.

Masungit kasi nagmamadali na? Hindi. Masungit talaga ‘yan.
We were able to make it to Hinagdanan Cave just in the nick of time.

As the sun has already started to set, there was no natural light that seeps through the crevices of the cave, rendering it darker than usual. We just took some photos of the rock formations. They look beautiful, and probably more beautiful if we arrived earlier.

After spending some time in Hinagdanan Cave, we got no time to lose and had to drive again. Our next destination is about 40 minutes from Hinagdanan Cave, and the sun’s about to set. We need to be there before darkness.
It is critical that we arrive early in Abatan River. We will do kayaking along mangroves and will allow ourselves to drift into the darkness of the night as we would watch fireflies in their natural habitat.

We paddled our way through the Abatan River right before sunset. Kayaking is actually preferable when doing this activity, as it does not have the noise of a typical motorized banca. One will be more absorbed by nature in its unaltered state when one gazes in silence.
When the night has fallen, there were bunches of fireflies on trees! They were such sights to behold! Unfortunately though, our phone cameras were not designed for the night, hence we had no good photo of the fireflies encounter.
On our way back, I was just awaken, as I fell asleep in the kayak. Pagod na pagod na pala si Ran kasasagwan samantalang ang sarap ng pagkakahimbing ko sa likod noong bangka. After the kayaking activity, we were served with a sumptuous dinner, courtesy of Kayakasia PH.

After we had our fill, we headed off to our accommodation. We immediately rested, as we have a long day the next day ahead of us.
If you wish to experience communing with nature in the darkness of the night, being illuminated only by the stars and the fireflies themselves, you may check our Renegade Directory for the contact details of Kayakasia PH.
