The Sound of Silence

This post is about our trip to a concert, but it has nothing to do with Simon & Garfunkel.

So what’s with the title? Allow me to elaborate.

I have been to concerts before, but never to any concert where I know none of the performers. Head in the Clouds Manila was happening though and Atarashii Gakko will be there, a Japanese girl group for whom Ran goes gaga. For the sake of Atarashii Gakko, we then decided to go to the two-day concert.

For me, it was hence a baptism of fire. What do I do in a two-day event where there is a potential crowd and loud music unto which I cannot relate? This is our first concert together though. Of course, another renegade juncture so willingly taken.

It was raining hard when we arrived in SMDC Concert Grounds. Thankfully though, the rain stopped soon after.

We arrived rather early in the venue, and as soon as we finished taking our photos, the sets have started.

You have to pardon the shots here. The crowd and the rain do not really make good combination.

After sets of other artists, the moment we’ve waited for: Atarashii Gakko!

There was a point during the performance where Suzuka, the de facto leader of the group, went down from the stage right in front where we were standing. Needless to say, Ran went crazily happy.

That was way too early for a very memorable moment. In fact, at that point, I was thinking that we could actually just go home already as Ran has already been satisfied. Of course, we didn’t.

As the place was packed, we bought dinner from one of the stalls in the concert venue and settled down on the floor.

The night was still young after our dinner, so we indulged further to the music sets of the other artists.

The final set finished sometime past midnight, so we decided to spend the night in a hotel nearby so that it won’t be difficult for us to travel again come the second day of the concert. Ran and I agreed though that for Day 2 of the concert, we won’t be there as early and would miss the first few sets.

We lodged in Red Planet Hotel – Aseana Avenue. The room was cozy and comfy, kaya tinanghali na kami ng gising. When we checked-out at 12 noon, we decided to go to the Mall of Asia before heading back to the concert venue.

Nanginain muna kami ng Japanese food. Unfortunately, much as I try to recall kung saan kami kumain, hindi ko na talaga maalala ang pangalan nung restaurant.

After eating, we took a bit of a walk. Tamang tambay lang until we decided to return to the concert venue by 03:00 PM.

The second day of the concert was rather quick. For one, we intentionally arrived late. Despite that though, it was such a blast with Zedd gracing the night! It was a definite party!

The night ended in the midst of a drizzle. It was past midnight, and I told Ran that I need to sleep in the car before driving to our next destination.

Yes, next destination. Before heading to HITC, we both settled that we are going to do another first: our first mountain together. As if we are not tired enough from the two-day concert, we are now bound for another adventure. We were not done yet.
