Pit Stop at the Capital

It took a little less than an hour before we reached the town of Cabarroguis. Named after the late Nueva Vizcayan congressman Leon Cabarroguis, it was created from portions taken from the towns of Diffun, Saguday and Aglipay to serve as the capital for the then sub-province of Quirino.

We lodged in MGT Hotel conveniently located behind the Cabarroguis Public Market and within a walking distance from the provincial capitol. After dropping off our things in our room, we decided to take a little walk to do some sightseeing around the capitol building and to look for potential dinner options.

From the capitol grounds, we then walked around downtown to look for a place to eat. Our curious feet sent us Badz Burgers, a small burger joint across the street.

We just ordered burgers and sandwiches for dinner. This humble burger store actually delivers a punch in combatting hunger.

We left Badz Burgers roughly around 07:00 PM. It was still early, but we were surprised as the town seemed to have already gone to bed. No vehicles, no people walking, nothing. It felt different for us, having grown in a relatively urbanized environment. That just added to the enchanting enigma that Quirino has to offer.

We were back in the hotel at around 08:00 PM. The room we rented for the night was just accommodation, so I asked the front desk if they offer breakfast. Yes they do for a charge of additional PHP 100.00. Not bad, so I ordered breakfast for the following morning.

Finally, I was able to get some real sleep; not like the one I have been stealing when we were in the boat in the rapids, and definitely like the one I got when driving.

Hindi ako nagmamadaling magising. I really needed the sleep as from the hotel, we will be going straight home already, taking a different route. A longer route.

When the breakfast was served, I was surprised. Malayo ang narating ng one hundred pesos ko.

When we had our fill, we checked out from the hotel. It was an early check-out as we still got hours left in our booking. We cannot stay longer though. Apart from the fact that the way home will be a long drive once again, we still got a place to go in our itinerary.

We still got places to go.
